The virtue of 100%

If you want to be really efficient in how you work then you must be 100% in how you do things. What do I mean by that?

I mean that you need to standardize how you do things so that you and your team are on the same page. You need to do things 100% the same way every time so your nurses always know what is coming next.

When they know what is coming next they can anticipate and get things ready in advance.

Unfortunately, when I observe many dentists work I see a pretty much random process where there is hesitation and indecision. The nurses are reduced to sitting and waiting for instructions because they don't know what you will do next.

So, for example work out:

  • Your sequence of burs

  • Your preferred type of matrix band

  • Your preferred bond

  • Your sequence of instruments

  • And so on...

Then, when you have worked these things out, stick to them.Your efficiency will multiply and your nurses will be much happier.
