Dentists, do you write clinical notes?

With respect to clinical notes you have two options. The first option is to write them yourself.

The advantage with that is that you have total control. The disadvantage is that you need to allow time after every patient — say 5 or 6 minutes. If you see 12 patients a day that over an hour a day spent typing on the computer.

Also, because the notes are made at the end of the appointment (instead of as the discussion is taking place) you may forget and omit things that were said. The other option is to train a responsible staff member to make your clinical notes.

The disadvantage is that it will take some training before they get it perfect. But the advantages are that you save over an hour a day and the notes get made as you are talking with the patient and so they are more complete and accurate.

Are you prepared to invest 4 or 5 hours of training to save yourself over 200 hours per year?Doctor, what would you like to do?SaveSaveSaveSave
